I have more cardboard than I know what to do with. Obviously, it could go for waste to energy, or gerbil bedding, but I can't help thinking there are better things to do with it...

recycled is an obvious choice ,it makes new packaging and uses far less energy than tree to packaging

composted,it only adds a bit of bulk but it can be used to provide air spaces retain moisture as a lid etc.

as weed suppressing ground cover ,for the veg garden and especially under electric poultry netting to avoid weeds shorting the pulse

slug trap ,they hide under it for easy collection(see above)

Recycle it at your local facility.

Baled up it is worth money! we do all ous at work and worth a few bob each quarter

Thanks. Don't go to trouble on it though: it is more curiosity he serious intent.
Always good to know the value of things though, especially when they're things tat most folk think of as rubbish.

It'll be the same issues we've discussed before with small scale plastic recycling ......... finding someone who takes it on a small scale and/or storing enough. Guess a ton of either would fill a garage and is it worth hassle/storage/transport/time for £50-£100.

Mine goes in recycling bin and sometimes on compost heap.

Depends how much space you've got and where is has got to go. At least plastic is weatherproof, so it can be stored in the yard.
Shame that site only gives prices for HDPE and PET. What do I do with my box of ABS?
Also interesting to note that coloured PET is worth much less than clear: perhaps something to consider while shopping?

Yeh probably an over estimate.
Cardboard density is 700kg/m3, so a ton of flat packed boxes would take up, say, 2m3
and you'd get, say, 12ton in a garage

Except most box cardboard is corrugated....

Doooh didn't think about corrugations.
2m3 didn't sound right

Ours cardboard packaging is baled at work, we produce several bales per day, 1.2m x 1m x 1m, each approx 1 ton, it goes off to be recycled, comes back at some point as new packaging.

We use stacks of the stuff, particularly in winter, under animal bedding.
