The set up usually works...
But today the pooter is saying "getting printer information"....I have the little turning circle by the cursor arrow showing that it is Doing Something...

And what does "print using the system dialogue" mean.

I need to print off a lot of Ancestry stuff as well as downloading it...if the system crashes I don't want to lose everything.
I have saved this as a pdf , next step is try and open that and print....but I have a feeling that the problem will be the same....

I don't get on the laptop and do stuff regularly, so I lose the simple steps (HA!!!!) of doing things.....
I need a computer nanny here in person

are the printer drivers up to date?

my printer has taken to asking for confirmation it is "OK" to start physically printing having cached the data ready to go after choosing the thing and pressing"print"

if you do not use it often it might be mechanical, try a printer test, see what happens

slight sideball but is this documents, ie scans etc or text?
if it is the former, it might be choking on the details, if it is, it will be slow as it maps the fly spots and foxing and paper texture etc
either split it into chunks or print at lower resolution/greyscale

Giving the printer a run through is a good idea..
I am trying to remember how to print off a download instead of doing it from the website.
Not doing this often enough for me or the computer

I might see if I can do it from the tablet....

Printer recognises the WiFi

How do I get the job sent to it that way? I seem to remember emailing???

Goes off to tidy study to see if instructions got written down and left on the desk...which is behind the eBay packing materials...

Have you rebooted the laptop? var/spool indicates a print spooler error, a reboot should clear that
