So what will Nom de Plume be?

I vote for Brigitte Bonkalot.... I'm sure the other DS members will come up with some suggestions.

Doing the book has been great. Therapeutic and hard work, but the editing was the worst. Id love to do a serious book on apples, orchards and cidermaking, but would also include French so I need to do some research.
France is great - no regrets - it was a good move for us. We are 'in the system' now with Carte Vitale's and health insurance which isnt as much as we feared, and its top notch.
As we still dont know whats happening with Brexit we cant get a residency card as our department has spat the dummy as there are over 20,000 Brits applying in just our department. But our maire says they wont fling us out.

Our gite bookings have taken a hit because of Brexit - people are frightened to book in Europe we think, although we have other Europeans booking so it may be a lean year.

Right now today, we are working in the woods, removing leaning trees and strimming paths clear. We've already seen our red squirrels and the deer have been running past the living room window in the evening, so all well.
Bonkbuster - Ill need a different publisher or self publish (my current publisher wont print anything like that), but havnt started this yet.

The book is hopefully going to do well, and if folk will share it - that would be great.

Not surprised to see bookings are down. Whatever happens, and whatever you think of Brexit, it's causing uncertainty right now. Today, people don't know how easy travel will be over the next few months, how much the pound will be worth, and for some, if they'll have a job or business. I remain hopeful the uncertainty about some of these things will be resolved shortly, and bookings pick up.

As for a n-d-p.... Hm.

Over here, the French just dont understand why we are determined to leave as to most people the uncertainty both financial and security wise is a major threat. They are mystified. BUT, I have to say that we have been told in the village not to worry, that they wont fling us out.

Sadly, on some FB pages there are more than a few Brits living in France whose attitude to Brexit and frankly towards the EU and the French is appallingly rude (and they LIVE here!).

We have some bookings from Belgian and German guests in high summer and a lot of repeat bookers from last summer, so I wont be rich, but we wont be bankrupt.
And the weather is fab right now. 22 degrees, blue sky, we are varnishing the shutters today and I have a wash hung out.

Presume you don`t have the French yellow vest protests in your area then Lorraine, seems the army is out this weekend after the last riot with orders to shoot aggressive protestors.

Ty Gwyn, we have had them for the last few months. They tend to congregate at roundabouts although one weekend they blocked the entrances to the main supermarkets etc.
Most of them are ok, they delay you a bit, but its all good humoured. We keep (like most French) a yellow high viz vest on the dashboard and they wave you through.
We are aware that there have been deaths and huge damage done in Paris, but the French love to protest, and soon it will be the Air traffic controllers again....
You just accept it and get on with it.

the ones we have here seem to be small numbers of angry gammon , a few footie types, some street fash totally a few to a few dozen led by old hand political fash activists.

afaik the french ones are not exclusively far right or demanding their unicorn now.
imho although they might well have a similar origin ( bring in the usual suspects ) the manifestation is rather different as the french ones have quite a variety of grievances and the EU isn't the major one of them and the UK ones are very narrow minded in their complaints which are traitors to brexit and no unicorns ( with a strong undertone of racism and xenophobia plus assorted personal charms ).

It seems Macron is their biggest grievance and what he stands for.
