They were appearing round here a month or so ago, just too small to pick as we hadn't had any rain. Things should improve now after we've had a few showers.

It does make life simple to have them growing so close to home. For dinner we had salmon with my go-to marinade of brown sugar, mustard, soy sauce and sherry; some mashed potatoes (blue fingerlings, gave a unique color) and the chanterelles sauteed together with shallots and some thyme. Yummy!

They're just starting to pop up then.I am planning a nosey at the weekend and your pic has given me hope.
Was there much else about or do you think this is the very start?
I think with the recent rain its looking hopeful and it should be even better by the weekend.

Not a sausage here yet. But we haven't really had any rain either. I had to water when I put some seeds in yesterday as the earth is still dusty dry.

I picked all the oyster mushrooms off the two trees that I could easily reach from the ground, and without falling down the embankment. More than we can eat fresh, so will saute and freeze the excess.

More rain yesterday, another .70 inches. This morning I expectantly went to the area off the driveway where I got the previous haul of chanterelles and there is nothing! Not even the manky ones I didn't pick. My go-to villain for anything eaten are deer. Anyone know if deer eat mushrooms. No matter, I'll blame them anyhow.

Off to clean and saute mushrooms.
