the birch boletes are out, there is a kilo or so in the dehydrator to be used in winter stews and sauces
it seems like a good year both in numbers and size so tis worth checking your local birch trees

I didn't know they were good eating. I always assumed they were a good razor strop, as that is their alternative name.

not bad dried and chopped up for adding to stews etc.
as a whole shroom young ones are ok but not wonderful
ps there are quite a few boletes associating with birch, some are better than others.
pps they do need a thorough cooking to avoid tum issues
