my headphones lost coms with the pooter, after some messing about with driver updates and the classic turning stuff off and on again they were still a little moody and not talking to each other

wd40 on a cotton bud was used to clean and lube the main button on the cans

now it all works

re security, at the mo there are a lot of cyber probes and attacks, these are being patched but keep your stuff updated, shut unused ports, use multi layer security apps, use a VPN and if it still suddenly goes oddly wonky unplug the internet feed instantly, turn it off, turn it on and see if it survived(start with good analytics which should be with the system's own and bought security stuff)

beeb

anecdote says some local authority systems are dealing with a large and nasty collection of attacks
chances are there will be a variety of cyber attacks, domestic, commercial, gov and infrastructure are very plausible

all of us can resist domestic problems, which sometimes helps with denying access/resources to botnets and hiding places for worms etc.

keep the updates updated, there are loads of patches and notwanted posters being distributed by the better sort of OS and apps vendors

photoshop seem to have been busy improving the battlements and moat
ditto MS

i dread to think what an unsecured and/or outdated system might be infected by

linux and tor is fine and a good idea for general web use unless you need your kit to run stuff that only works on MS or MAC and needs to run some stuff on a cloud server and it needs to be online to work at full functionality

Something I was rather expecting. Hope all government systems are well protected as so much has to be done on line these days.

ditto printer drivers, that was not fun

got it working

at one point win 10 and my stuff decided a canon site might be a fake

the one with drivers had no security issues, the online troubleshoot helpline was potentially a ringer

be careful out there

the simple reason is often the reason, so it may be that the most recent win10 updates have wiped some drivers, rather than a direct response to an external threat.
