Perfected over a couple of years, this is my take on GBST's recipe, made to the instructions in the article here
This made 10 jars of assorted sizes.
Ingredients:
1lb onions (chopped small)
3lb plums (halved and stoned) (4lb before removing stones)
1lb Bramley apples
½ lb tomatoes (quartered)
½ lb celery (chopped small and thinnish)
½ lb raisins/sultanas
½ teaspoon chilli powder
2 teaspoons five-spice powder
3 star anice (hoik out before putting into jars)
2 inch piece of root ginger, peeled and finely grated
1 ½ lb Demerara sugar
1 ¾ pints cider vinegar
2 teaspoons salt
