in most of the uk domestic and commercial flocks can go out again, some will have never been out, it will be awhile before free-range is a fairly accurate label for even the best chook centric set-ups

Well that's good news. No doubt once they get used to it, the chickens will enjoy the great outdoors and the costs to the keepers will fall a bit.

Corrie Mains free range egg producer on the radio this morning. Of six flocks. Three have never been out...so won't know what to do! But the pop doors will be open.
As the interviewer said she wouldn't be wanting to go out today either
They have footballs. Hanging bales of lucerne and other things for the chooks to play with

Unfortunately the one thing they didn't mention was that the stocking rates are lower for free range.
She did say that the infection rate was downgraded one notch..but that it is still worryingly high.

A bit like humans and Covid......
